Uasin Gishu County Governor Jonathan Bii is pleased to announce significant strides in the county’s ambitious efforts to enhance electricity access for residents. This marks a major milestone in fulfilling his pre-election commitment to bring reliable and affordable power to more households across the county.

Governor Bii’s administration has successfully completed the mapping of strategic locations for the installation and optimization of transformers, a critical step in the broader electrification initiative. This comprehensive mapping effort, coupled with a substantial Ksh 240 million matching fund program secured in partnership with the Rural Electrification and Renewable Energy Corporation (REREC), positions the county for a transformative leap forward in its electricity infrastructure.

“This progress represents a fulfillment of a key pledge I made during my campaign—to expand electricity access from the current 65 percent to 95 percent by 2027,” said Governor Bii. “We are committed to improving the quality of life for our residents and driving sustainable development through enhanced energy access.”

The Ksh 240 million matching fund from REREC will support the installation of new transformers and the optimization of existing infrastructure to ensure reliable electricity distribution. This initiative is expected to significantly increase the reach of electricity services, particularly to underserved and remote areas of the county.

Governor Bii expressed his gratitude for the support from REREC and the community’s continued patience and cooperation as the project progresses. “Our shared vision for Uasin Gishu is one of growth and opportunity for all residents,” he said. “We are on track to meet our electrification goals and to bring about positive change for every corner of our county.”

The Governor also emphasized that this project is just one aspect of his broader plan for sustainable development in Uasin Gishu, which includes investments in infrastructure, education, and health services.

Residents can look forward to more updates as the project advances, with the next phases of implementation scheduled to commence in the coming months.
