Governor Jonathan Bii Champions Agricultural Innovation at Chebororwa Training Center
Uasin Gishu Governor Jonathan Bii has reiterated his administration’s commitment to promoting sustainable agricultural practices at the Chebororwa Agricultural Training Center. Under Governor Bii’s leadership, the center is pioneering cutting-edge methods in crop husbandry, with a focus on sustainability. Key initiatives include the adoption of minimum tillage, relay cropping, and other advanced technologies that are transforming agricultural productivity in the region.
Governor Bii highlighted the importance of diversification in farming practices, urging farmers to embrace crop rotation to preserve soil health. “We encourage our farmers to plant crops such as canola and sunflower after maize harvests. This not only enhances soil fertility but also increases their income through diversified farming,” he said.
As part of the county’s broader strategy to boost horticultural production, the Chebororwa Training Center is actively propagating coffee and avocado seedlings, which will be distributed to farmers next year. This initiative aims to expand the region’s capacity in horticulture, ensuring that Uasin Gishu remains a leader in agricultural innovation and sustainability.
Governor Bii’s efforts are seen as a pivotal move to strengthen the county’s agricultural sector, ensuring long-term food security and economic prosperity for local farmers.
