Uasin Gishu Governor Jonathan Bii has highlighted the success of the county’s ongoing pyrethrum distribution initiative, which has positively impacted over 500 farmers in Tarakwa Ward. Among the beneficiaries is Mzee Joel Fuko Githu from the Rukuini area, whose four-acre farm is flourishing as the pyrethrum plants near the flowering stage.

Pyrethrum, a high-value cash crop, is being reintroduced to boost farmers’ incomes and promote agricultural diversity in the region. Governor Bii underscored the crop’s significant potential for income generation and encouraged more farmers to consider diversifying into pyrethrum farming to improve their financial well-being.

“We are proud to see the progress of farmers like Mzee Joel, who are embracing this valuable crop. Pyrethrum offers a great opportunity for farmers to enhance their livelihoods, and as a county, we remain committed to supporting such initiatives,” Governor Bii said.

The governor reiterated his administration’s commitment to ensuring that more farmers benefit from the program, as part of broader efforts to revitalize the agricultural sector in Uasin Gishu.
