Governor Jonathan Bii Delivers Water Project in Ziwa Ward, Fulfilling Manifesto Promise
In a significant milestone for the residents of Ziwa Machine, Governor Dr. Jonathan Bii has officially handed over one of his flagship projects, the Ziwa Machine Water Project, to the contractor in Ziwa Ward.
The project, a cornerstone of Dr. Bii’s Manifesto Nguzo Number 7, aims to elevate living standards by ensuring affordable water and sanitation services, with the ambitious target of providing piped water access to 60% of homesteads in Uasin Gishu County.
“My government has covered 80% of water distribution within the ward, and we will continue to distribute water to benefit all residents, particularly farmers,” stated Governor Bii, emphasizing the vital role water plays, especially for agricultural purposes during dry seasons.
Echoing the sentiment, Area Member of the County Assembly, Hon. Ezekiel Kodi, urged Ziwa residents to embrace the project, emphasizing the collaborative efforts between the county government and the county assembly for the collective welfare of all residents.
County Executive Committee Member for Water, Dr. Sam Kottut, provided insights into the project’s scope, highlighting its anticipated impact on 3000 households, Ziwa Secondary School, and Kimurgoi Dispensary in its initial phase. “Ziwa Dam serves as the source of the Ziwa Machine water project, with existing infrastructure including a ground masonry tank of 400,000 litres capacity. The pending works handed over today include installation of solar systems, laying of pumping mains, construction of pump houses, and distribution lines,” explained Dr. Kottut.
Henry Rotich, a Ziwa resident, commended Governor Bii’s administration for fulfilling its promise of bringing water distribution to the grassroots level.
The event saw the presence of notable dignitaries, including CECM for Roads Eng. Joseph Lagat, Chief Officers Elijah Koech (Water), Mary Kerich (Environment, Climate Change, and Natural Resources), and Abdikadirr Sankor (Partnership, Liaison, and Linkages), along with Directors from the Governor’s Press Unit (Silah Terigin) and Administration (Samwel Kemboi), and Ward Administrator Jacob Bitok.
With the delivery of the Ziwa Machine Water Project, Governor Jonathan Bii’s administration takes a significant stride towards fulfilling its commitment to enhancing the quality of life for Uasin Gishu residents through improved access to essential services.
