Governor Lusaka Opens Cancer and Palliative Care Unit

Bungoma governor Kenneth Lusaka has commissioned Cancer and Palliative Care unit, Eye Clinic and Intensive care unit (ICU) at the Bungoma Referral Hospital.

A first of its kind in the region, the cancer clinic is projected to aid in the detection and treatment of patients suffering from cancer.

The Palliative Care unit has an already equipped ward set aside for cancer management and trained personnel.

The State of the art Eye Unit is a partnership between the County Government and the Dutch Government and is fully equipped and Operational.

The Facility houses consultation rooms, theatre, pharmacy, 16 bed ward and specs Workshop.

The opening of the two clinics is a relief to Bungoma residents who endured long distances to Tororo in Uganda and Sabatia in Vihiga County to seek eye services and a huge financial relief to cancer patients who have faced many challenges while seeking treatment outside the county.
