Bungoma Governor Kenneth Lusaka has called on young graduates to embrace creativity, resilience, and innovation as they step into an increasingly competitive job market. Speaking at the 9th graduation ceremony at Kibabii University, where 1,529 graduates were awarded degrees, Lusaka stressed the vital role of technology and innovation in shaping the future and driving socio-economic progress.

“The world is full of opportunities, but it demands innovation, creativity, and determination to unlock them,” Governor Lusaka told the graduates. He encouraged them to use the skills and knowledge acquired during their studies to address contemporary challenges and pioneer solutions that can positively impact society.

The governor also highlighted the county’s ongoing collaboration with Kibabii University, emphasizing the importance of partnerships in areas such as scholarships, research, and technological advancement. He assured the university community of the county government’s continued support, including infrastructure projects like roads and street lighting, which benefit both the university and the wider region.

“Our commitment extends beyond education,” said Lusaka. “We are also working on ensuring the region has the necessary infrastructure to thrive.”

A significant part of the governor’s speech focused on a recent partnership with the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), which has greatly improved the water supply to Kibabii University and the surrounding areas. Additionally, Lusaka announced plans to allocate more land to the university in Kopsiro and Sang’alo to aid in its expansion and support the growing student population.

“We are finalizing arrangements to ensure the university has the space it needs to grow and serve more students,” the governor confirmed.

Lusaka also reiterated his administration’s focus on promoting entrepreneurship, innovation, and sustainable development in the education sector, urging graduates to stay solution-oriented and contribute to the growth of Bungoma County and beyond.

The event, themed *”Catalyzing Transformative Education, Research, Technology, and Innovation for an Entrepreneurial and Sustainable World,”* underscored Kibabii University’s commitment to equipping graduates with the skills to tackle global challenges.

Kibabii University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Isaac Ipara Odeo praised the governor’s unwavering support for higher education and reaffirmed the institution’s dedication to nurturing a new generation of leaders.
