Uasin Gishu govervnor Jackson Mandago has commissioned the distribution of 10,000 reusable to each ward across the County.
The County boss said the facemasks will be distributed to the vulnerable members of the society who are risk of contracting COVID-19.
“The first batch comprising 180,000 pieces of face masks that were manufactured at Rivatex Eldoret were distributed with another 120,000 expected to be dispatched by Friday,” said governor Mandago.
Governor Mandago commended the County Health workers for their exemplary work in fighting the pandemic.
“Our county health workers have handled 202 COVID-19 patients, 86 have since recovered and we have no fatalities. And for this I want to thank our medical workers, administrators, chiefs, village elder and Nyumba Kumi elders”, Mandago said.
He also directed each department to engage each sector of the economy and craft COVID-19 protocols in line with the national government directive so as the ensure there is a steady return to normalcy while adhering to prevention and control of the pandemic.
County Executive Member for Health Services, Evelyne Rotich urged county residents to enhance personal protection. She also urged parents to be even more watchful over their children’s movements.
Uasin Gishu County Assembly Leader of Majority Hon Joesphat Lowoi, also present, said that the county leadership is united in ensuring that the pandemic is eradicated.
