Governor Natembeya Allocates Sh 70.Million For ECDE Feeding Program
Governor George Natembeya has announced that his administration has allocated Sh 70 million towards Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE) learners feeding program beginning January.
Speaking during the Governor’s Kikao (a forum for the Governor to engage one on one with the people) in Chepchoina Ward, Natembeya noted the need to enhance the foundation of young learners by providing them with relevant needs.
He pointed out that Endebbes Sub County had been listed as the worst hit by malnutrition among children across the entire county citing that the program will come in handy for milk has high nutritious value.
Implementation of the program will play a key role in helping boost the nutrition of ECDE learners as well as increasing their morale on attending school sessions hence lowering absenteeism levels.
The County boss said that from January 2024, every ECDE learner will receive a packet of milk twice per week as part of nutrition enhancement program.
He emphasized on the importance of providing nutritious supplements to young learners which benefits them by aiding their growth and development.
Further, the governor urged parents and guardians to prioritize their children’s education by ensuring they attend school regularly. He emphasized that not only would these young learners get education but also benefit from nutritional support provided through milk provision initiative.
He also called for concerted efforts from all education stakeholders to ensure that the children have access to quality education and adequate nutrition.
The governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to support initiatives aimed at improving education experience and welfare of children in ECDE centres.
