Governor George Natembeya offered condolences to the family of Cosmas Khisa Barasa, whose sons, Isaac and Jesse Juma Khisa, tragically drowned in Nakuru County last week. Jesse, a plumber, reportedly collapsed while unblocking a septic tank, prompting his brother Isaac to jump in and attempt a rescue, resulting in both their deaths.

Speaking during their burial ceremony in Maridadi, Kwanza Sub-County, Governor Natembeya acknowledged the historical stagnation Trans Nzoia had experienced over the past decade. He urged political leaders to abandon unproductive practices and prioritize the well-being of their constituents.

Governor Natembeya pledged significant improvements to Trans Nzoia’s development within his five-year term. He announced plans to award tenders to local residents, particularly youth, encouraging them to form groups to leverage these economic opportunities. The groups will be eligible for government-backed loans to support their endeavors.
Recognizing the vital role women play, the Governor lauded their contributions to families and the national economy. He acknowledged the high poverty rates and called for political unity to tackle this challenge through community empowerment.

Addressing concerns surrounding the Nawiri Fund, Governor Natembeya reiterated its purpose: to uplift the lives of Trans Nzoia residents. He committed to enabling business owners to boost trade through the fund.

The Governor confirmed his administration’s continued support for education by offering bursaries to needy students scoring 250 and above in their KCPE exams. He also revealed that 78 individuals from Kwanza had recently been employed by the county government, with more opportunities promised as development projects progress.

Through the Kikao initiative, Governor Natembeya pledged to organize a meeting specifically for Kwanza sub-county to address their needs and aspirations. He was accompanied by Kwanza ward representative Sarah Lubano, political advisor Joshua Werunga, personal assistant Emmanuel Wamalwa, economic advisor Emmanuel Waswa, and other county and national government officials.
