Governor George Natembeya has affirmed his administration’s dedication to protecting and nurturing businesses in the county.

The governor made these remarks today during the commissioning of the multimillion 5th floors Ambwere House and a new business center in Kitale town.

Governor Natembeya emphasized that economic activity is a top priority for his government, assuring that all businesses will receive protection and support for growth. He urged residents to value progress and cautioned against pursuing growth without establishing a solid foundation.

Highlighting inclusivity, Natembeya stated that all communities in the county have been involved in its development and management. He encouraged residents to actively participate in county politics and warned against external influences.

In a bid to expand Kitale town, the governor revealed his request to the National Government for the Annex prison land, not for the housing project led by President William Ruto, but for town expansion. He stressed his commitment to creating employment and identified certain county facilities hindering development.
Governor Natembeya cautioned against acquiring public property and emphasized that government property will always remain as such.

He outlined plans to empower residents through financial capacity building using the NAWIRI fund, with beneficiaries given opportunities to work with the government through tenders.

Reflecting on the past, the governor recalled Mzee Ambwere’s generosity, citing an instance in the 1980s when Ambwere used his personal investments of Sh.48 Million to pay Kenyan Teachers when the government failed to do so.
The Chairperson of the state Corporations Tribunal, Aggrey Lucas Kidiavai, who attended the function, praised Mzee Ibrahim Ambwere and his wife Ebby for founding a business empire that has supported thousands of small businesses across the western region.

The event was attended by County Secretary Truphosa Amere, CECs Patrick Gacheru and Jackson Amboka, and Chief Officers Mwangi Wang’ondu, Dorothy Musikoyo, and Philip Kapten.
