Endebess Sub County, Trans Nzoia – Governor George Natembeya has expressed deep concern over the high poverty levels in Endebess Sub County and called for a more proactive approach to addressing these challenges. Speaking during the Kikao consultative sessions in Matumbei Ward, Natembeya urged residents to form groups and apply for funding from the government’s Nawiri Fund, which aims to uplift local communities through sustainable projects.

“This year, we have increased the Nawiri Fund budget to Ksh. 100 million, up from Ksh. 80 million last year, to support more local initiatives,” Natembeya said. “It is vital that we empower our communities, and these funds are designed to help tackle poverty and stimulate growth at the grassroots level.”

The governor highlighted the importance of listening to the needs of local residents, sharing that he had personally heard their concerns during his visit to the region. Among the key priorities raised were the establishment of a health center, the installation of high-mast lights to improve security, and enhancements to water services.

“I am fully committed to addressing these challenges,” Natembeya assured the gathering. “These projects are just the beginning. We will continue to work together to ensure that every resident in Endebess Sub County can benefit from improved services and opportunities.”

The governor also acknowledged the success of the free maize seed distribution initiative, which has been well-received by farmers in the area. “With your continued support, we are making significant strides toward bringing tangible benefits to everyone in our county,” Natembeya concluded.

The Nawiri Fund and other development initiatives reflect the county’s commitment to reducing poverty and improving living standards for all its residents. With the increased allocation, the governor hopes to see even more positive outcomes in the coming months as local projects take root and begin to transform the community.
