Governor Natembeya Urges Investment in Sports Talent Following St. Joseph’s Victory

Transnzoia Governor George Natembeya has emphasized the critical role of nurturing sports talents following the triumph of St. Joseph’s Boys in the County secondary school football championship. The team secured a decisive 2-0 victory over St. Anthony’s Boys, marking a significant achievement in local sports.

Speaking at a celebratory event held at Kitale Town Hall, Governor Natembeya underscored the importance of identifying, training, and developing sports talents, particularly among the youth. “Sports can be a vital pathway to employment, both locally and internationally. It is imperative that we invest in nurturing these talents,” the governor stated.

Highlighting the potential of sports as a source of employment, Governor Natembeya expressed optimism about creating opportunities beyond Kenya’s borders. “Even if talented youth cannot find employment opportunities within Kenya, they can explore prospects in other countries where sports is a major industry,” he emphasized.

Governor Natembeya extended his congratulations to St. Joseph’s Boys Kitale for their outstanding performance, applauding their discipline and behavior in addition to their athletic prowess. He assured the team of continued support from both the school and county government.

In further support of sports development, Governor Natembeya revealed plans for the construction of a modern stadium in Kitale, scheduled for completion by next year. The stadium, equipped to high standards with an investment of sh.657 million, aims to provide a conducive environment for future sports competitions, including hosting the victorious St. Joseph’s Boys.

The governor concluded by commending all teams that participated in the championship finals, emphasizing the importance of sports in fostering unity and talent among youth in the region.
