The county government of Trans-Nzoia is calling for collaboration with the National Lands Communication to repose all grabbed public lands to pave way for infrastructure development.

As part of her meeting with Nairobi land commission officials at her office in Kitale, Trans Nzoia CEC Janerose Nasimiyu Mutama revealed that her department’s objective is to reclaim grabbed parcels of land. This is given that hundreds of acres of land are illegally possessed by private developers and individuals.

The CEC attributed inadequate space for infrastructure development to what she described as the slow pace of growth of Kitale town and other majors in the county.

The National Lands Commissioner Mr. Reginald Okumu directed the lands department to stop the renewal of land leasing that has expired.

A member of the public interested in purchasing land in the county was warned to follow due process, he said.

Okumu issued the warning when he visited blocks 6 and 7 which are earmarked for reclamation within Kitale town.
