Health Sector in Vihiga County has received a major boost following the opening of additional facilities across the county.
Residents in Tambua ward, Hamisi Sub County were today overwhelmed after Vihiga Governor Dr. Wilber Ottichilo officially opened Kimwenge Dispensary that will reduce the long distance patients have been travelling to access medical services.
Speaking during the event, Dr. Wilber Ottichilo stated that construction of the stalled Givigoi Health Centre will now resume following the completion of a court case that had stopped the works.
“As we work on improving this facility by expanding it to build a maternity ward in the near future, we shall also complete the Givigoi Health Centre now that the case surrounding its establishment has ended.Afterwards we can upgrade it to the Sub County level,” Said the Governor.
Additionally, the County Boss assured locals that he will ensure the area has clean and accessible water supply.
Hamisi MP Dr. Charles Gimose advocated for combined efforts among elected leaders in the county for better service delivery to the electorate.
On his part, Health Services Acting CECM Prof. Inonda Mwanje appreciated residents for supporting the project and ensuring it becomes a reality by offering voluntary services especially on matters security.
Chief Officer in charge of Health Services Dr. Mary Anyienda reiterated on the need of a collaborative working relationship between the facility staff and residents.
This, she said will promote offering of quality services and security to the dispensary.
While expressing his gratitude to the Governor, Area MCA Manoah Mboku alluded that Tambua people prioritized Kimwenge Dispensary during ward based public participations and he’s happy that Dr. Ottichilo heeded to their plea.
Apart from opening the dispensary, the Governor also flagged off a new ambulance that will aid in patients referrals at the centre before heading to Luanda Township ward in Luanda Sub County to open a modern laboratory at Luanda Town Dispensary.
The modern laboratory is one of its kind in the entire county and will be offering Hematology Analyser – Dymind DH52, BioChemistry Analyser – Seamaty SD1, Microscope/Parasitology – Olympus CX23 among other tests.
