Governor Rotich inks deal with Safaricom to digitise services


Elgeyo Marakwet Governor Wisley Rotich has signed a Memorandum Of Understanding (MOU) with Safaricom PLC that will now pave way for digitisation and automation of county services.

In the partnership, ‘My Elgeyo Marakwet County App’, which will be a one stop shop where different services can be accessed has been developed by Safaricom.

“The App will provide a one stop shop where our people can access services…it will save costs and time of accessing County services,” said the Governor, “it will also ease payments of revenues and rates”.

There will also be an incident reporting portal where through videos and photos, residents can report an incident at their location.

The telecommunications company will also roll out fibre for high speed connectivity both at the County headquarter and the Sub counties and also support youth incubation hubs.

Safaricom will also assist digitise NHIF and improve network coverage in the County
