Governor Rotich Intensifies Security at ICRH After Bandit Raid
Following the bizarre incident where a patient was forcefully discharged by gunmen at Iten County Referral Hospital (ICRH) Elgeyo Marakwet government has intensified security at the Hospital.
This comes after armed bandits raided a hospital in Iten town and rescued their colleague who was undergoing treatment after being injured in a banditry raid.
“I would like to assure everyone that operations at the hospital are normal.Even as we let police conclude their investigations over the matter, the brazen move by the gunmen to the extent of neutralising security officers shows that we are insecure,” said the Elgeyo Marakwet governor. Wisly Rotich.
He noted that his administration requested for police officers drawn from CIPU to guard the facility on a 24 hour basis.
“All visitors will be required to deposit their Identification documents at the gate and fast track the CCTV installation. The incident that also traumatized our staff and patients show the level of how far gun wielding criminals can go. Hospital is as sacred as the Church. It has never been a criminal target. I hope the police get to the bottom of this matter soon,” he said.
