Elgeyo Marakwet Governor Wisley Rotich has secured three fire engines for Elgeyo Marakwet County!

The engines are a donation from the Workington International Rotary Club, United Kingdom.

They were handed over to the Governor by the Club Chair Mr.Ken Kirkwood during his trip to the UK. The two held discussions on developing partnerships on disaster management and on improving health care.

This will be a big boost to the County that has lacked a single fire engine since the advent of devolution in 2013.

In the past few months we have had fire incidences at Nyaru centre, Iten town, Chebiemit boys, Litei Secondary School and kapsowar town which has led to huge losses.

“My special thanks go to professionals in the UK led by Dr.Kipnyamgo Seroney, Mr.Jackson Simatei and many others who are expanding our global networks,” said the Governor.

He also thanked the EMC resource mobilisation teams and staff headed by respective CECs for the new dimension towards fostering partnerships in view of limited County resources.

“My gratitude to the great people of EMC for giving me the chance to lead this transformation journey,” added an elated Governor.

The fire engines are now being transported from Wales to the Port of Tilbery for onward shipping to Mombasa Port.

This heralds a new chapter for the establishment of EMC fire fighting department.

The Governor was accompanied in the UK trip by CEC Roads and Public Transport Mrs Emmy Kosgei and First Lady Mrs Fionnah Kiprotich.
