Governor Stephen Sang Sends Off Team Kenya for Paris Paralympics
As the Paris Paralympic Games approach, Governor Stephen Sang extended his best wishes to Team Kenya, which has been training at the Eliud Kipchoge Sports Complex in Nandi.
The 22-member team, comprising athletes from across Kenya, has been preparing at the state-of-the-art facility for nearly two months, honing their skills in anticipation of the global event.
Governor Sang praised the Eliud Kipchoge Sports Complex, a vision realized through his development agenda. The complex has become a crucial asset, providing both training and residential support.
It features furnished hostel rooms and a modern training track, making it an ideal location for athletes’ preparations. Additionally, the high-altitude setting offers optimal conditions for enhancing performance, increasing the likelihood of success at sea level competitions.
The complex has also hosted various teams, including the Talanta Hela football teams, showcasing its versatility and importance in nurturing athletic talent.
Team Kenya, under the leadership of Dennis Muga, Chef de Mission for the National Paralympic Games, and Technical Director Joseph Ochieng, is expected to deliver an exceptional performance in Paris. The team was officially flagged off today, concluding their successful training stint in Nandi.
Among those present at the flag-off ceremony were Deputy Governor of Nandi County, Dr. Yulita Cheruiyot; Rose Ang’ira, CEC for Sports, Youth Affairs, Culture, Heritage, Gender, and Social Welfare; County Assembly Sports Committee Chair, Hon. Silas Kogo; and C.O. Sports, Beatrice Chemurgor, among other dignitaries.
Governor Sang expressed his confidence in the team’s ability to represent Kenya with pride and excellence. He concluded by wishing Team Kenya the best of luck in the upcoming games, hoping for their continued success on the global stage.
