Harambee Stars beat Pakistan 1-0
Kenya’s men’s National Football team, Harambee Stars defeated Mauritius 1- 0.
The mouthwatering game was played at the Cote D’Or National Sports Complex in Mauritius in the Four Nations Tournament.
Shummah Moses scored the winning goal in the 17th minute of the first half.
Pakistan suffered their second defeat, having lost 3-0 to Mauritius in their opening match.
Shummah who plays for Kakamega Homeboyz as a striker, scored his first goal for the nation in his football career.
Harambee Stars midfielder Richard Odada was named the man of the match.
“We came late for this tournament but played well and relaxed. l came to give my best for the team and l am happy for this award,” said Odada.
According to Harambee Stars coach Engi Firat, his squad played a good game.
“We played very well and had a lot of possession, it was a good game for us and l expect more from the boys in our last match against Mauritius, “said Firat in his post-match.
On his part, Mauritius coach Shahzad Anwar noted that his team had good chances to score and did not concede many goals.
“We have a small team and had better chances, but we lost 1-0. Now our focus is on how we shall plan to play Djibouti and get a win,” said Anwar.
He said the way they played showed that they are taking the right steps in football.
Pakistan will be playing Djibouti on Saturday as Kenya battles the hosts Mauritius in their last game this Sunday.
