"Healthcare Milestone: Chesongoch Mission Hospital Unveils State-of-the-Art Facilities"

In a momentous occasion for healthcare in Elgeyo Marakwet County, Chesongoch Mission Hospital proudly unveiled its newest additions—a cutting-edge New Born Unit (NBU), Theatre, surgical wards for both genders, and an Optical Unit. The inauguration ceremony, graced by Elgeyo Marakwet County Governor Wisley Rotich and attended by a host of dignitaries, marks a significant leap forward in healthcare provision for the region.

Constructed with generous support from the Rotary Club and the people of Germany, these state-of-the-art facilities are poised to revolutionize healthcare services in the Kerio Valley belt. Notably, the hospital’s rapid response to banditry victims since its establishment in 1972 has earned it a reputation as a beacon of hope in times of crisis.

Governor Rotich, in his address, lauded the collaborative efforts that brought this project to fruition, emphasizing the invaluable contributions of the Missionary Benedictine Sisters and the Catholic Church in ensuring its completion. He also announced continued support for the hospital, including unlimited access to the county’s blood bank and oxygen cylinder refills from Iten County Referral Hospital.

Furthermore, the partnership between the county government and Safaricom Foundation signals a commitment to further enhancing healthcare services. A Mother and Baby Unit, set to be constructed and equipped at Tot Sub County Hospital at a cost of Sh 40 million, promises to bolster maternal and child health outcomes in the region.

Among the attendees were members of the clergy, led by Father Sammy Tula, alongside COs Jeremiah Chirchir and Lawrence Mutwol, and dedicated staff from Chesongoch Mission Hospital.

As the ribbon was cut and the doors of these state-of-the-art facilities swung open, a new chapter in healthcare excellence unfolded, promising a healthier and brighter future for the residents of Elgeyo Marakwet County and beyond.
