Here are the Winners of Governor Bii’s Volleyball Tournament

Men from Cheptiret/Kipchamo Ward and women from Racecourse Ward defied the odds to win the Uasin Gishu Governor’s Cup Volleyball Tournament on Saturday.

Cheptiret men, captained by David Wanyama, defeated Kipkenyo 3-0 in a well-attended final match attended by Governor Jonathan Bii, International footballer McDonald Mariga, and United Democratic Alliance’s Chair, Cleophas Malala, played at Eldoret Polytechnic Grounds.

Cheptiret/Kipchamo men won the first set, 25-18, thanks to captain Wanyama’s unrivaled spiking power.

Kipkenyo expected success to come their way after Cheptiret’s Wanyama landed awkwardly on a spike, injuring his ankle. Despite a slight limp, the captain docked his ship safely with a 25-23 win in the second set.

Governor Bii congratulated the two teams for their win.

“The success of this tournament has demonstrated our capacity and ability to partake in sporting activities and, most importantly, the existence of diverse talents amongst our young people,” said Govenor Bii.

He reiterated his commitment that, under the Nguzo Kumi blueprint, the County Government of Uasin Gishu will conduct talent search programs across the county and support the same.

“This all geared towards creating employment and boosting our economic stability and sustainability,” he added.
