Historic Launch of Moiben Law Courts Marks Milestone in Access to Justice

In a landmark moment for the pursuit of justice in Moiben, the Moiben Law Courts were officially launched today, signaling a significant step forward in ensuring access to justice for the local community.

The inauguration of the courts, attended by a host of dignitaries and local residents, is seen as a pivotal moment in the ongoing efforts to safeguard individual rights and liberties.

Addressing the gathered crowd, Moiben Member of Parliament, Prof Phylis Bartoo, expressed gratitude on behalf of the people of Moiben to Her Ladyship Chief Justice Martha Koome for her unwavering commitment to addressing the challenges of access to justice in the region. Bartoo highlighted the pivotal role of courts as guardians of constitutional and human rights, emphasizing the importance of ensuring that these rights are not violated by any individual or entity.

The launch ceremony was attended by a distinguished lineup of officials, including Chief Registrar of the Judiciary, Winfridah Mokaya, Chair of the Alternative Justice System, Prof Joel Ngugi, and Eldoret High Court Presiding Judge, Reuben Nyakundi. Also present were members of the Judicial Service Commission, led by Commissioner H.E. Hon Isaack Ruto, as well as H.E. Governor Bii Chelilim and Deputy Governor H.E. Engineer Barorot.

Local representation was strong, with Turbo constituency colleague Hon Janet Sitienei, host MCA Hon Hillary Mzalendo, and numerous other dignitaries joining the festivities. The presence of a large number of locals underscored the significance of the occasion and the community’s eagerness to embrace this new chapter in their quest for justice.

The establishment of the Moiben Law Courts is expected to alleviate the burden that residents have faced in accessing justice, providing a local venue for legal proceedings and dispute resolution. With the support of Chief Justice Martha Koome and the collaborative efforts of all involved, Moiben is poised to enter a new era of legal empowerment and protection of rights.
