Hon. David Maina (UDA) Warns Youths Against Being Used by Politicians to Cause Violence
Youths have been warned against being used by self-centered politicians to cause violence during this electioneering period.
According to David Maina National Chairman of Vijana na Kazi UDA youths should shun such leaders whose aim is to use them to get political mileage.
“I want to call upon youths across the County during this electioneering period not to allow themselves to be used by politicians to cause violence. It is sad that during Deputy President William Ruto’s rally in Jacaranda, Embakasi East youths were paid to disrupt the meeting, this is uncalled for and should be condemned in the strongest terms possible,” said the UDA National Chairman of Vijana na Kazi .
He said selfish politicians take advantage of their situation by using them to create chaos and instill fear in their political rivals.
“I urge youths to put the stones down, and to take up identity cards and register as voters because this is the only weapon that will bring sanity in the country for the best of all of us. We must campaign in a peaceful environment. Youths who are used by politicians for their self interest should desist from such habits,” he added.
Maina called on youths who have not registered as voters to take advantage of the second phase of Enhanced Continuous Voter registration to register as voters.
“IEBC has just rolled out a voter registration exercise that will last for three weeks, I, therefore, urge youths in the hustler nation who are eighteen years and above and have identity cards to register as voters since this is the only way we the people will make William Ruto president,” he advised.
He said the only way youths generation can bring change to this country is by practicing their democratic right to vote for leaders of their choice.
The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has rolled out the second phase of Enhanced Continuous Voter Registration (ECVR) from January 17th to February 6, 2022, in preparation for the August 9th General Elections.
“Those who have completed form four especially in our strongholds which includes Western, Rift valley, Coast, Mount Kenya and specifically Uasin Gishu county where over 100,000 youths haven’t registered as voters. Please register as voters to help us to form the next government,” Maina added.
He encouraged young people to participate in the democratic process because this is the only way they will be able to change the direction of our country.
Maina appealed to Kenyans to vote for Deputy President William Samoei Ruto come 2022.
“I urge Kenyans across all divides to support the Deputy President William Ruto in the coming general elections. William Ruto has distinguished himself as the only leader putting the country’s interests before politics, and he has the right policies to transform the economy and create jobs for millions of unemployed youths,” he said.
