Hon. Irene Njoki Secures Borehole Projects for Bahati Constituency to Ease Water Shortages
The Member of Parliament for Bahati Constituency, Hon. Irene Njoki, popularly known as *Mrembo na Kazi*, has delivered a major breakthrough for residents of her constituency, securing two vital borehole projects aimed at addressing the region’s water shortage.
The projects, which are a result of dedicated lobbying with the National Government, are part of a broader effort to improve access to clean water in rural areas of Bahati. The two boreholes will be constructed at strategic locations: one at Engoshura Dispensary in Tumsifu, within Gituamba sub-location, and the second at Laini Saba in Rurii sub-location.
In her statement, Hon. Njoki emphasized the importance of these projects for the community, particularly for women and children who have historically borne the brunt of the water scarcity issue. “Water provision is primarily a devolved function, but through concerted efforts and lobbying with the National Government, we were able to secure these crucial water projects for our people,” said Njoki.
The two borehole projects are expected to significantly ease the burden on local families, particularly the women who have for years had to endure long and exhausting journeys to fetch water. With these projects, residents will now have a more reliable and accessible water supply, which will contribute to improved health, sanitation, and overall quality of life.
These new water sources are just the latest in a series of development projects Hon. Njoki has championed for the betterment of Bahati Constituency. The MP has been vocal about her commitment to addressing critical infrastructural needs, particularly those that directly impact the daily lives of her constituents.
The successful implementation of the borehole projects is a testament to the importance of working collaboratively with both local and national governments to address key challenges in underserved areas.
As the construction of these boreholes moves forward, residents of Bahati can look forward to a more sustainable water supply, which will not only improve the quality of life but also reduce the time and energy spent collecting water.
For many in the constituency, this marks a new chapter in the fight for reliable access to essential resources, and for Hon. Irene Njoki, it represents another promise kept to the people she serves.
