Human Rights Activist Kipkorir Ngetich Warns IEBC Against Clearing Politicians with Fake Certificates
Uasin Gishu Center for Human Rights and Democracy (CHRD) programs officer Kipkorir Ngetich has warned The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) Wafula Chebukati against clearing politicians with fake certificates.
Speaking to the press in his office Ngetich said the move is uncalled for and will set a bad precedence.
“As human Rights activists we are sending a stern warning to IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati that if the commission will clear politicians with fake academic certificates , they will take him to court and be prosecuted on the same,” said the Uasin Gishu Center for Human Rights and Democracy (CHRD) programs officer.
He says if the commission will clear them it will be setting bad example for the years to come.
“It will not be possible for IEBC to put a bad foundation of accepting fake credential from leaders of questionable character , it will not be possible in a country that is governed by the rule of law to accept such happenings,” said Ngetich.
He called on IEBC and DCI to conduct a thorough investigations on the same and arrest all those involved.
“We are also calling on Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) and Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to do investigations on the same on faker certificate used by politicians seeking leadership positions.
