The ultra-modern Eldoret West Maternity Hospital will open its doors for the start of specialized services in a few months. The contractor handed over the building to the County Government.
Speaking during the handing over, County Executive for Health, Dr Everlyn Rotich said the county now embarks on equipping of the facility.
“The contractor has handed over the facility and the task that follows is equipping which is the most crucial part of setting services rolling.”
West Maternity Hospital is a model facility as it will offer services only tailored and centred around maternity. These are deliveries, surgeries, prenatal, postnatal, antenatal and neonatal services.
Dr Rotich also adds that immunization of children, which is an important component in support of child growth, will also be offered.
County Executive for Roads, Eng Gideon Birir said the facility is up to the standards of the client, which is the County Government.
“We can say the contractor has handed over a quality piece of work and was done to expectation as far as technical part is concerned,” says Eng Birir.
Once the facility gets operational, it will serve mothers from a large catchment area. It will have regional importance as mothers from neighbouring counties will get all the maternity services.
