ICEA LION Group, in a powerful collaboration with Kahawa Garrison and Miti Alliance, has taken significant strides in reforestation with a major tree-growing initiative at Kahawa Garrison, Mwihoko Camp. Demonstrating our unwavering commitment to environmental stewardship, ICEA LION Group contributed 11,100 seedlings, reinforcing our dedication to green cover restoration as a core element of our ESG agenda.

This effort also aligns with our support for the National Tree Planting Initiative aiming to plant 15 billion trees by 2032.

Colonel S. N. Kasura, Camp Commandant of Kahawa Garrison Barracks, expressed profound gratitude, stating, “We are immensely grateful for the partnership with ICEA LION Group.

Their support is pivotal as we strive to reach our goal of planting 8 million trees, with only 3 million left to achieve in the next three years. Today, we have successfully planted a total of 21,100 seedlings, geared towards enhancing biodiversity and supporting our nation’s ecosystem.”

Michael Waiyaki, CEO of Miti Alliance, highlighted the importance of planting indigenous trees specific to each area to ensure sustainability and benefit the local ecosystem.

Philip Lopokoiyit, Group CEO, ICEA LION, reiterated our commitment to environmental conservation: “Supporting this initiative reaffirms our dedication to reforest and restore green cover in the country. We aim to take Kenya’s forest cover back to 30%. Without proper forest cover, there’s a significant impact on biodiversity and climate change.”

As part of our ongoing environmental efforts, ICEA LION Group is committed to growing one million trees by 2026. The 21,100 trees planted by our team at Kahawa Garrison will play a crucial role in combating the effects of climate change and restoring the country’s natural beauty. Our commitment extends beyond merely planting trees; it encompasses the vital process of growing and nurturing them to maturity. By ensuring the survival and growth of these trees, we can make a lasting impact on the environment, support local ecosystems, and contribute to a healthier planet for future generations.
