Inspector General of Police, Douglas Kanja, provided a crucial update on the ongoing investigation into the abduction of Wajir County Member of the County Assembly (MCA) Yussuf Hussein Ahmed. Speaking before the National Assembly’s Administration and Security Committee on Thursday, Kanja confirmed that arrests had been made in connection with the case, but authorities have yet to trace the whereabouts of the missing MCA.

“We have made some arrests in relation to the abduction, but we still do not have any concrete information on the whereabouts of MCA Yussuf Ahmed,” Kanja said. He reassured the committee that the investigation is still active and that police are working tirelessly to gather more details.

The Inspector General also made an appeal to the public, urging anyone with information on the incident to come forward and assist in the investigation. “We are still appealing to members of the public to share any information that could lead to locating the missing MCA,” he added.

The Wajir MCA was abducted on October 31, reportedly by armed men while on his way to his Nairobi home. His disappearance has sparked outrage among his colleagues and political leaders across the country. On the same day of his abduction, the County Assembly Forum issued a statement threatening to shut down all 47 county assemblies in two weeks unless the government takes urgent action to secure Ahmed’s release.

As of now, police have not disclosed further details on the arrests or the ongoing investigation. The situation continues to attract widespread concern, with the national security agencies under increasing pressure to resolve the case.

The public and political leaders are closely monitoring developments, with many hoping that the ongoing efforts will lead to the safe return of MCA Yussuf Hussein Ahmed.
