IG Urged To Ensure There Is Peace During Azimio’s Demonstrations
Uasin Gishu Senator Jackson Mandago has called on the inspector general of police Japheth Koome to ensure that there is peace during the Azimio Monday’s demonstrations.
Mandago asked the opposition leaders to respect the constitution up to the later while demonstrating.
“We as leaders in the Kenya Kwanza government want to tell those in Azimio to respect the constitution of Kenya. They should demonstrate without causing violence,” said the former Uasin Gishu governor.
They called on the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) to bring to book all those responsible for causing violence, destruction of property, and inciting the public.
“We want NCIC to arrest and charge all those who will be found spreading propaganda and hate messages. As leaders, we will not sit and allow our country to be destroyed by a few self-centered individuals,” said senator Mandago.
Turbo Mp Janet Sitienei echoed the same sentiments calling on the Azimio leaders to picket without causing violence or any form of harm.
“We want to call on the Azimio brigade to follow the law. If they want to picket they should go and apply for a license and when demonstrating, they should not touch people’s property. They have no shame saying they’ll drink water, sodas, and drinks belonging to traders. Who will pay for these damages? They should picket without harming our mothers who go through a lot to put food on the table. We call on Raila to consider these Kenyans.” added the Turbo Mp Janet Sitienei.
