Importing GMO Maize on Point- Nominated MP
Nominated Member of Parliament Hon. Joseph Wainaina has supported the government’s plan to import Genetically Modified Organisms (GMO) into the country following the drought ravaging most parts of the country.
“We are supporting the government’s plan to import genetically modified foods into the country. I want to congratulate the president together with his deputy, this was to salvage the country from a hunger crisis. The Metrological department warned of long periods without rains, what was the government to do?” asked Joseph Wainaina.
Warning the opposition against politicizing issues concerning food security in the country, the nominated mp said they are on the frontline to ensure they will be in the frontline consuming whatever the government brings in for the Kenyan population.
“There was too much politicking from those in opposition to the extent that it almost caused chaos. On matters food, we will be the first persons to eat that food whenever it arrives so that people can know it is safe for consumption. So let’s stop politicizing issues pertaining food.” added the nominated MP.
On matters title deed belonging to residents of Langas, the Member of Parliament urged the president to make true his words of issuing title deeds to the occupants of those areas.
“Matters pertaining title deed, especially Uasin Gishu County has been a big problem. We discussed this and we urged Mr. President who assured us they look into this matter in less than a year. I will will sponsor a motion to the parliament capping the period of time taken by land cases in court to one year.” Noted Mr. Wainaina.
On the recent riots witnessed in town, the legislature stated they talk to all relevant stakeholders to ensure things operate normally while also flashing out those camouflaging as thieves and taking advantage of the situation.
