Investment Trade and Industry Cabinet Secretary Rebecca Miano Hosts OECD Delegation to Foster Economic Development
In a significant move towards bolstering Kenya’s economic landscape, Investment Trade and Industry Cabinet Secretary Rebecca Miano welcomed a delegation from the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) on Wednesday evening. Led by Mr. Andreas Schaal, the OECD team engaged in discussions aimed at advancing mutual cooperation and fostering economic growth within the region.
The focal points of the meeting included an assessment of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between the OECD and the African Union Commission (AUC), as well as an in-depth review of the current status of OECD engagements within Kenya. Cabinet Secretary Miano provided insights into the government’s strategic priorities encapsulated in the BETA agenda, emphasizing alignment with OECD’s focus areas.
During the dialogue, Cabinet Secretary Miano underscored the Ministry’s objectives, emphasizing a keen interest in leveraging OECD’s expertise to enhance Kenya’s business and investment climate. Of particular importance was the exploration of avenues to integrate Kenyan products into the Global Value Chains (GVC), thereby fostering greater participation in international trade.
