Elgeyo Marakwet Deputy Governor Grace Cheserek who was also present said the County will establish Kelvin Kiptum Foundation to encourage the upcoming athletics.

Cheserek said that” we unite together the family to honor his legacy and to keep his memories alive. As a County, we will establish the Kelvin Kiptum Foundation in his honor”.

Women world record holder Mary Keitany said that it’s painful to lose such a young soul when the world was waiting for more from their youngest men record holder.

“Kiptum shocked many because he had made the marathon look easier and everyone was waiting to see his progress which he was going to perform in April during the Rotterdam Marathon,” said Keitany.
On Wednesday, the same event will be held in Eldoret town to honor him.

Meanwhile, the engineers are working round the clock to finish the construction of a new house for the deceased.

Kiptum is expected to be buried at his rural home Naiberi, Uasin Gishu County on the 23rd.
President William Ruto among other high-profile Dignitaries is expected to grace the Occasion.
