Kakamega DG Inspects Fertilizer Plant Equipment in US
Kakamega Deputy Governor Ayub Savula landed in Chicago, United States of America to inspect organic fertilizer machines; a trip that comes barely four months after Kakamega Governor Fernandes Barasa comissioned construction of Kakamega Organic Fertilizer Manufacturing Plant at Matawa in Mumias West Sub-County, an event that was witnessed by US Ambassador to Kenya H.E Meg Whitman.
The County Government of Kakamega is partnering with Sanergy Limited, a US based company specialised in manufacturing regenerative inputs for Agriculture and industry from organic waste, to operationalize the Matawa based Plant.
Once functional, the Firm is expected to create job opportunities and wealth amongst residents of Kakamega County in line with Governor Fernandes Barasa’s Wealth creation and Social Development pillars. In addition, the Plant’s organic fertilizer and other agricultural products will improve the County’s degrading soils thus increasing farm yields which will positively impact on food security.
The Deputy Governor was accompanied by Hon. Timothy Mayabi Wanzetse the MCA Lusheya/Lubinu Ward.
