Kakamega’s healthcare system received a significant boost today as Governor Fernandes Barasa inaugurated 12 new ambulances at the Kakamega General Teaching and Referral Hospital. This initiative, a result of a partnership between the County Government of Kakamega and the Kenya Red Cross Society, aims to enhance emergency medical services across the region.

At the flag-off ceremony, Governor Barasa emphasized the importance of these ambulances in improving emergency response times and providing specialized care. Of the 12 ambulances, 10 will be distributed across various subcounties to ensure broader coverage, while the remaining 2 are equipped with advanced ICU facilities for critical care situations.

“The introduction of these ambulances will not only expedite medical response but also extend vital services to remote areas and support medical camps,” Governor Barasa stated.

The event was attended by key figures from the Kenya Red Cross Emergency Plus Medical Services Society, including Chairman Mr. Abbas Gullet and Managing Director Ms. Susan Ng’ong’a, who expressed their commitment to furthering healthcare improvements in Kakamega.

This expansion in emergency medical services marks a pivotal step towards enhancing healthcare delivery in Kakamega County.
