State of department of Livestock through the Kenya Livestock Commercialization Project (KeLCoP) today trained livestock officers on Value chains to improve breed poultry, beekeeping, rabbit production and small ruminants that include sheep and goats for meat and dairy.

KeLCop is a Government funded project that aims to increase small-scale farmer incomes and improve opportunities to enable them increase their output and increase their resilience.

Through the Participatory Rural appraisal approach that incorporates knowledge and opinions of people through the planning of the program, the Officers will be able to train the community further on the importance of the Value chain.

The Project will be piloted in Soy North, Tambach ward, Cherangany/Chebororwa and Sambirir ward.

Speaking during the event, the project coordinator Mrs Dorothy Bomet, said that the project will focus fully on value chains for they are mandated to provide productive employment and food security opportunity for women, youth and marginalized segments of population.

“Lets engage the community through Participatory Rural Appraisals to ensure sustainability of the project that will help to impact the county to spur its productivity,” said the CECm for Agriculture, Livestock, Irrigation and Fisheries Mr. Seroney.
