The Kenya Association of Technical Institutions (KATTI) concluded its national 2024 ball games with an electrifying finale, crowning Friends College Kaimosi as the champions in men’s soccer. The event, graced by TVET Director Dr Meshack Opwora as chief guest, underscored a pivotal message for Kenya’s youth.
Dr Opwora seized the moment to rally talented young athletes towards embracing sports as a viable career path beyond their academic pursuits.
“We have so many opportunities available in sports as a career. That’s why I encourage the sportsmen and women to take these games seriously,” emphasized Dr Opwora.
Addressing a captivated audience, Dr Opwora assured participants of unwavering governmental support, affirming, “The government will continue to nurture and mentor the talents of our young people for socio-economic development.”
Reflecting on the sporting prowess of the Rift Valley region,Dr Opwora highlighted its legacy of producing international icons such as Eliud Kipchoge and the late Kelvin Kiptum. Despite tragic losses like Kiptum’s recent accident, Dr Opwora remains optimistic about the potential of KATTI players to achieve similar heights on the global stage.
The KATTI ball games not only showcased exceptional sporting talent but also served as a platform to inspire a new generation of sportsmen and women across Kenya. With governmental backing and directorial encouragement, the future looks bright for those who dare to dream big in the world of sports.
