The Kenya National Qualifications Authority (KNQA) has officially launched its Strategic Plan for the period 2023–2027, marking a significant milestone in the country’s education sector.

The launch event, held at the Westwood Hotel in Nairobi, was graced by representatives from various educational institutions, government officials, and stakeholders.

Dr. Esther Muoria, representing Education Cabinet Secretary Dr. Ezekiel Machogu, commended KNQA for its pivotal role in developing the Kenya National Qualifications Framework (KNQF), which is now being rolled out across the nation. Speaking on behalf of the Education Ministry, Dr. Muoria highlighted the framework’s importance in aligning Kenya with international standards, ensuring transparency and comparability of qualifications both locally and globally.

“The KNQF is a cornerstone of Kenya’s commitment to international educational standards. It provides a robust database that facilitates the recognition and portability of qualifications, enhancing mobility of skills and labor,” remarked Dr. Muoria. She emphasized that this initiative is crucial for fostering economic development by producing a skilled workforce equipped to meet global demands.

The Strategic Plan outlines objectives aimed at harmonizing educational qualifications, ensuring coherence, enhancing quality, and promoting inclusivity in education. It serves as a reformative tool to improve access, equity, relevance, and overall educational quality across Kenya.

During her address, Dr. Muoria urged the Governing Council and management of KNQA to prioritize the full implementation of the strategy, emphasizing its role in driving educational reforms and fostering national development agendas.

The launch event was attended by key stakeholders committed to advancing Kenya’s educational landscape, reflecting a collaborative effort towards achieving sustainable development through enhanced education and skills development initiatives.
