Kenya National Fatwa Council Congratulate the New Chief Kadhi
Kenya National Fatwa Council has congratulated Athman Abdulhalim Hussein as the Country’s new Chief Kadhi.
Chairman Sharif Ahmad Badawi wished Hussein well in his endeavors.
“As Fatwa Councill we wish to congratulate Athman Abdulhalim Hussein as the new Chief Kadhi, we are proud of him and we know he is up to the task,” he said.
Sheikh Athman was appointed by the Judicial Service Commission among five candidates shortlisted for the position.
He replaces Sheikh Ahmed Muhdhar who retired after 12 years of service and attaining the mandatory 60 years retirement age.
Sheikh Athman after completed University Education at Azhar in Egypt, was also a teacher at Madrasatul Munawar Mombasa then he was at Kadhi in
Kwale, Mombasa, Isiolo .
He was then appointed principal Kadhi wa Kenya and now Chief Kadhi.
Kenya National Fatwa Council Deputy Director, Sheikh Abubakar Bini thanked the Judicial Service Commission for conducting the interviews in a free and fair manner.
“As Kenya Fatwa Council we congratulate him on his new appointment and we are ready to work with him to bring the Muslims together. He should follow the footsteps of retired chief Kadhis from back in 1963,” Bini said.
He also called on Chief Justice Martha Koome to set a Kadhi Appeal Court.
“At the moment It is hard for someone to appeal if he was not satisfied with the Kadhis ruling. We urge the government through Chief Justice Martha Koome to give us a court of appeal for justice to prevail,” he added.
