Kenya Scouts Association Engages with NEMA to Promote Environmental Stewardship
The Kenya Scouts Association (KSA) today paid a courtesy call to the National Environment Management Authority (NEMA), seeking to forge a partnership aimed at promoting environmental stewardship across the country. The delegation, led by KSA’s Chief Executive Officer Moses Danda, was warmly received by David Ongare, the Director of Compliance at NEMA, who stood in for the Director General.
The meeting focused on exploring how NEMA and KSA could collaborate to harness the power of the Association’s vast membership, which includes over 4.4 million young people, in driving environmental conservation initiatives. Through this partnership, the two organizations aim to engage the youth in a range of environmental activities, from tree planting campaigns to awareness programs, with the goal of creating a more sustainable future for Kenya.
Speaking after the meeting, Moses Danda expressed the Scouts’ commitment to advancing environmental education and conservation efforts, saying, “As Scouts, we believe in the importance of nurturing the next generation of environmental leaders. By working with NEMA, we can provide practical opportunities for our members to get involved in conservation activities that will have a lasting impact.”
David Ongare, on behalf of NEMA, welcomed the proposal and underscored the importance of engaging young people in environmental matters. He noted that involving youth in such initiatives is crucial to ensuring the continuity of sustainable practices in the country.
Both organizations agreed to explore further collaborative efforts and look forward to announcing concrete steps for joint environmental programs in the coming months.
This meeting marks a significant step in strengthening the role of the Kenya Scouts Association in the nation’s environmental conservation agenda.
