Kenya Society for Deaf Children calls on government to increase capitation in deaf schools

On Friday 02/02/2024 Kenya Society for Deaf Children (KSDC) issued bursary disbursement for children coming from humble backgrounds. This momentum was enhanced to improve quality education to needy impaired hearing children.

The Society for Deaf Children lead by it’s Director Rhoda Kabiti, urged government to increase capitation in deaf Schools to allow seamless transitions especially in junior secondary schools.

The exemptional organisation had one hundred and forty one schools country wide sread across forty six counties. Narok county is the only county without school of deaf.

The society work with private donort in order to improve the quality education, provide better living and protection of their rights in the country.

The society is facing a big challenge in education sector, few teachers in deaf schools is one dispute that contribute to poor performance and increase in numbur of school droup outs.

Kenya have few technical institutes for deaf which is a big challenge. Karen Technical Training Institute, KaagaTechnical and Vocational Training Center for Deaf, Sikri Technical and Vocational Training etc

Schools for deaf in the country have more early pregnancies and school drop outs than regular schools.
