Kenya Targets 5 Million Visitors by 2027, Strengthens Ties with Key Global Media Partners
Tourism and Wildlife Cabinet Secretary Rebecca Miano has underscored the central role of the United Kingdom and European markets in Kenya’s ambitious goal of welcoming 5 million visitors by 2027. Speaking at the World Travel Market (WTM) in London, which attracts over 50,000 travel industry stakeholders, Miano highlighted Kenya’s strategic positioning as a premier global tourism destination.
“We are committed to making Kenya the top destination for travelers from the UK, Europe, and the Middle East,” said Miano. “Our participation at WTM reflects this vision, as we build powerful connections and raise the visibility of our vibrant tourism offerings.”
A key highlight of Kenya’s presence at WTM was the announcement of new partnerships with leading global media organizations, including the BBC, Reuters, and Al Jazeera. These collaborations aim to amplify Kenya’s “Magical Kenya” brand, showcasing the country’s diverse wildlife, rich culture, and stunning landscapes to a wider international audience.
Through these partnerships, Kenya plans to leverage mainstream and digital platforms to share captivating stories and experiences, reaching not only the UK market but also key source markets across Europe and the Middle East.
Miano added, “By sharing our authentic and compelling narratives through trusted global media, we will entice travelers to explore Kenya’s unparalleled beauty and diverse tourism experiences—ranging from safari adventures to rich cultural heritage and pristine beaches.”
The Kenyan government is focused on enhancing its tourism infrastructure and promoting sustainable travel to meet its 5 million visitors target by 2027. With strong media partnerships and a growing presence in key international markets, Kenya is poised to become one of the world’s leading tourism destinations in the coming years.
