The Kenyan government has launched nine new tourism circuits aimed at showcasing the country’s hidden gems, marking a significant step toward revitalizing the tourism sector. This initiative underscores the collaboration between central and county governments, essential for driving economic growth and promoting local cultures.

The announcement was made by Cabinet Secretary for Tourism, Rebecca Miano, who emphasized the importance of these circuits in diversifying Kenya’s tourism offerings. “We are excited to present these circuits, which will not only highlight lesser-known attractions but also ensure that the benefits of tourism extend to communities across the nation,” Miano stated.

Excellency Ole Ntutu, chair of the Council of Governors’ tourism committee, expressed his strong support for the initiative. He affirmed that the governors are committed to working alongside the national government to enhance Kenya’s tourism landscape.

The new circuits aim to encourage sustainable tourism practices while empowering local economies. By focusing on hidden destinations, the initiative seeks to create unique experiences for visitors, helping to alleviate congestion in popular tourist areas.

Stakeholders, including local communities, tourism operators, and investors, are invited to participate in this collaborative effort to unlock Kenya’s tourism potential. The government believes that this approach will not only enrich the travel experience but also preserve the country’s cultural heritage and natural resources.

As the tourism sector continues to recover from the impacts of the pandemic, this initiative is seen as a crucial step towards a more sustainable and inclusive future for Kenya’s tourism industry.
