Kenya Urban Roads Authority Focuses on Nationwide Urban Mobility Transformation
The Director General of the Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA), Eng. Silas Kinoti, has underscored the organization’s commitment to transforming urban mobility across Kenya. In a recent statement, Kinoti emphasized that “Transforming Urban Mobility is our utmost goal.”
KURA is intensifying its efforts to collaborate with county governments to expedite infrastructural development nationwide. This initiative aligns with its mandate to develop, rehabilitate, and maintain urban roads, aimed at enhancing the quality of life for residents.
Beyond the major city counties of Nairobi, Mombasa, and Kisumu, KURA is extending its focus to include road upgrades and modernization projects in all other counties. This comprehensive approach aims to improve road conditions across the country, ensuring that both motorized and non-motorized traffic benefit from well-maintained and accessible streets.
“We are committed to upholding high standards in our road expansion projects to make them more user-friendly for everyone,” Kinoti stated. The authority is actively implementing ongoing road works and initiating new projects, with particular attention to enhancing access in emerging small towns and improving connectivity to major public institutions and strategic national installations.
KURA’s role in managing the national urban road network extends to all county headquarters and major towns in Kenya, reflecting its broad reach and dedication to urban infrastructure development.
