The Kenya Women Parliamentary Association (KEWOPA) has initiated discussions to drive strategies aimed at influencing gender-responsive legislation in Kenya.

In collaboration with key partners including the African Women’s Development & Communication Network (FEMNET), Mzalendo Trust, and IDEA International, Women legislators today convened to exchange experiences garnered from their tenure in the 13th Parliament.

The primary objective of the meeting was to ensure that women leaders gain access to essential skills, tools, and resources necessary to realize their political ambitions.

Led by KEWOPA’s Chairperson, Leah Sankaire (Kajiado), the Parliamentarians highlighted instances of discrimination against women in committee assignments and leadership roles.

“When aiming to change the global economy, involving women is crucial as they possess a unique strength and determination to address issues more effectively than men,” noted Sankaire.
