Kenyans Urged to Not Only Plant But Nurture Trees

Kenyans have been urged to nurture trees after planting them.

According to Ambassador HSC, OGW Nancy Naomi Nakhumicha conservationist climate change Shujaa this will ensure that the majority of trees planted survive.

“Today we decided to nurture trees that were planted by the Uasin Gishu County Government along Kisumu- Kapsabet road, the issue is not just planting trees but nurturing them and if we plant and leave trees it means we are not doing anything since the majority will die,” she said.

She says most of the trees that were planted have been destroyed by animals, and insects and need to be taken good care of.

“Let’s come together and help the government in achieving the 15 billion trees, this will only be done if we nurture the planted trees

Helen Chelimo Tanui HSC Cultural Practices and Values called on Eldoret residents to ensure that they keep the town clean.

“As the former governor Jackson Mandago had laws to take actions against those throwing dirt, Chelilim should follow suit and come up with bylaws that will make Eldoret the cleanest town. This is the only way to keep our town clean,” she said.

Elizabeth Kosgei says “Let’s protect our trees and those with animals should ensure that they don’t destroy them,”

Daniel Ochaku a student from UOE called on the County government under Governor Jonathan Bii to manage the trees along the Kisumu Kapsabet Highway to ensure that one hundred percent of trees grow.

“We are willing to partner with the County so that we can nurture trees until they mature. We noticed that many of the trees were destroyed by pests, animals and we are ready to replace them,” he said.
Justus Rotich environmental Science says “The only way to achieve over 10 percent forest cover is to nurture trees,”
