Kenya’s Mining Sector Gears Up for Transformation Through Stakeholder Engagements
In a concerted effort to revitalize Kenya’s mining and mineral processing sector, the Ministry of Mining, led by PS Elijah G. Mwangi, recently spearheaded a pivotal engagement session with key stakeholders.
The session, held in collaboration with officials and members of the Mining Engineering Society of Kenya (MESK), focused on crucial aspects shaping the sector’s future.
The interactive meeting, attended by senior department officials and chaired by PS Elijah G. Mwangi, delved into multifaceted themes pivotal to the sector’s advancement. Discussions centered on current investments, burgeoning opportunities, future programs, and the professional development of industry experts. The event also saw participation from significant figures including Mineral Rights Board (MRB) Chairperson, Sarah Kutiti, and National Mining Board Chair Hon. Joseph Lagat.
Central to the discussions was the acknowledgment of mining engineers as indispensable catalysts for sectoral growth. Their profound technical expertise and insights were highlighted as pivotal to enhancing mineral productivity and fortifying safety standards across mining environments in Kenya.
“The role of mining engineers cannot be overstated in driving the growth of our sector,” remarked PS Elijah G. Mwangi. “Their expertise is critical to optimizing mineral output and ensuring the safety of our mining operations.”
