A fresh attack has occurred in Kerio Valley of Elgeyo Marakwet County as one more life has been lost to bandit bullets.

Two buses carrying students of Tot and Mogil Secondary School were attacked by gun welding bandits at Chesuman near Arror, Elgeyo Marakwet County.

One of the bus drivers was shot and killed while six pupils and three teachers sustained gunshot wounds.

Quick response by County health personnel in Chesongoch, Tot and Mogil health facilities prevented further casualties.

Ambulances from Chesongoch and Tot rushed the injured to these facilities for emergency treatment.

Two critically injured students and three teachers were later refered to MTRH and Mediheal hospitals in Eldoret for specialised treatment.

By this morning, the students and teachers had been operated on and were in stable condition.

The body of the driver has been taken to Tot Sub County Mortuary as police in the area began a manhunt for the bandits who perpetrated the attack.

Governor Alex Tolgos has condemned the Thursday attack and called on security personnel in the area to track down and show no mercy on the attackers.

“It is painful indeed to see innocent students and their teachers being attacked like this. This is unprecedented and shows that these bandits are merciless murderers,” he said.

Tolgos regretted the lawlessness that is prevailing in Kerio Valley.

“The red line has now been crossed by these bandits. My remaining call on the Government is to show it’s full force in Kerio Valley. These bandits have taken things for granted for far too long,” he said.
