KEWOPA Calls for Justice and Enhanced Security Following Brutal Murders in Mukuru Kwa Njenga
The Kenya Women Parliamentarians Association (KEWOPA) has issued a powerful statement condemning the recent brutal murders discovered in an abandoned quarry near Kware, Mukuru Kwa Njenga.
The statement, delivered by KEWOPA Chairperson and MP Hon. Leah Sankaire, expressed deep shock and sorrow over the horrific discovery of mutilated bodies and called for urgent action to address both the immediate and long-term issues surrounding the case.
In her statement, Hon. Sankaire extended heartfelt condolences to the victims’ families and condemned the “heinous acts of violence” that led to this tragedy. “Our hearts go out to the families and friends of the victims during this incredibly difficult time,” Sankaire said. “No one should have to endure such pain and loss.”
KEWOPA has demanded an immediate and thorough investigation into the murders, calling on authorities to ensure that those responsible are swiftly brought to justice. The statement highlighted the critical need for accountability from security personnel responsible for patrolling the Mukuru Kwa Njenga area, insisting that any negligence by these officials should be investigated and addressed.
“We appreciate the swift response by the Embakasi Division Police and the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI),” Sankaire acknowledged. “However, we urge for a transparent and expedited investigation to bring the perpetrators to justice without delay.”
The statement also emphasized the urgent need for enhanced security measures in vulnerable areas. KEWOPA has called on the government to take immediate steps to increase patrols, improve surveillance, and ensure that communities, particularly those in high-risk areas, feel safe and protected.
In addition, KEWOPA urged the public to cooperate with the police by providing any information that could aid the investigation. The organization underscored that only through collective effort can justice be achieved for the victims and their families.
Hon. Sankaire also highlighted the need for the government to provide support and counseling services to the grieving families. “It is essential that we come together as a community to support those who are mourning,” she stated.
