Kimani Wanjohi has launched The New Democratic Party which he will use in the fourth coming Huruma ward by-election.
This comes after he was recently endorsed by over twenty 2017 Huruma Ward aspirants for the seat. Speaking after he was handed over the party’s nomination certificate, Wanjohi said he will ensure thta the rights of Huruma ward residents are not infringed.
“I want to thank New Democratic Party for given me this opportunity to contest for the Huruma ward seat, thank you for believing in my leadership and I promise I will never let you down.I will ensure thta the rights of residents are protected. I will work with everyone no matter their political or tribal affiliations, ,” said Wanjohi .
Wanjohi warned politicians against endorsing their preferred candidates for the seat saying they should allow Huruma residents to choose leaders of ruler choice.
“We want Huruma residents to be given a chance to practice their democratic right of choosing a leader of their choice and no one should threaten them to vote for a leader they don’t want,”Wanjohi said.
This comes after leaders from Uasin Gishu led by the deputy president William Ruto, Governor Jackson Mandago, and Kapseret Mp Oscar Sudi during the burial ceremony of Peter Chomba at Huruma grounds, called on the Huruma contestants to shelve down their interests and support the wife of the deceased Lucy Chomba.
He said the reason as to why they ditched the Jubilee party is because the party’s nominations were marred with irregularities and chaos.
Samkiz Wanjama Mugo one of the aspirants who stepped down in support of Wanjohi said he is fit to take over from the deceased Peter Chomba.
Chomba died after developing breathing problems.
“We have faith in our brother Wanjohi and that he will be able to complete the projects that were started by the deceased Peter Kiiru Chomba,” he said.
Mugo said they will campaign for Wanjohi to ensure that he is elected as the Huruma ward MCA.
“I want to call upon Huruma residents to support Wanjohi by voting overwhelmingly for him in the fourthcoming by election and you will never regret voting for him,” Mugo said.
Lucy Ngendo Chomba was on Saturday nominated to carry the Jubilee party’s flag in the fourthcoming Huruma ward by-election.
