In a statement Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru echoed sentiments of inclusivity and mentorship put forth by a coalition of leaders, including Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, Hon. Musalia W. Mudavadi, and others.

Governor Waiguru emphasized the importance of not personalizing public leadership offices to the point where aspiring individuals, especially women and youth, feel discouraged from pursuing high office.

She underscored that these offices are held in trust, not ownership, and called for a culture that fosters ambition and support for all citizens.

“We respect the office of the Deputy President and all other leadership positions. However, a progressive democracy ensures that everyone, regardless of gender or age, has the right to aspire to leadership roles,” Governor Waiguru stated.

Highlighting the need for mentorship in political and socioeconomic leadership, Governor Waiguru urged current leaders to extend a helping hand to those with aspirations, particularly women and youth. She emphasized that just as current leaders had their dreams realized with the support of millions, it is essential to provide the same support to others.

The coalition’s message, championed by Governor Waiguru, seeks to promote a culture of inclusivity and support in Kenya’s political landscape, ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to pursue their dreams for the betterment of the nation.
